How To Be Productive At The Airport
Better to be early and bored than late and flightless, right? But even though those crucial hours have to be spent in an airport terminal doesn’t mean they have to be totally useless. Instead of meandering in overpriced shops or eating bad airport food, Travelle can help you turn your terminal time into a port of productivity.
Here are our tips for how to be more productive at the airport:
Refuel
You’ll be all around unenergetic if you don’t fuel your body and mind. Find a healthy meal in the airport to avoid eating yucky inflight “food.” Keeping your meal light will help combat sluggishness and a cup of green tea to stimulate the mind will keep you going. Don’t forget to bring some fruit in your carry-on for an extra snack on board.
Save Your Data and Time
Take advantage of the free airport Wi-Fi that you’ll most likely have access to. Flights often charge for WiFi access inflight so get any miscellaneous tasks including checking emails, schedules and transportation arrangements done before the flight itself. And if you haven’t already downloaded that new eBook or paperwork you wanted to look over in transit, now is a great time. You’ll save yourself an unnecessary bill and continue your productivity streak straight onto the flight.
And I’ll be Needing…
If you find yourself digging through luggage looking for an important item you never actually packed, don’t sweat it. You may be able to purchase whatever it is in the airport’s duty-free shops. But if you can’t find it there, Use that free WiFi to search for stores in your new destination that will have what you need in stock and directions for how to get there from the hotel.
Charge Up
If you’re spending a lot of time on your devices getting work done before the flight, you not only have to worry about them running on low battery in the terminal, but dying on you midflight, too. Nearly all airports have stations at which you can charge your electronics. Make sure your phone, laptop, tablet and portable chargers are all good to go before you board. So if you haven’t already, find a free outlet and take the time to charge everything to maximum capacity.
Keep Track of Your Travel
Traveling for pleasure? Use your free time to document those amazing globetrotting experiences. Whether you keep a journal, blog or use travel apps, spending the hour before a flight remising or writing about previous travels is great way to get excited for your next big adventure. You can even try creating a digital scrap book using Jauntlet which collects your updates from Facebook, Foursquare, Twitter and Instagram and uses them to map out your travels for you.
Check Out the Crowds
Airports are magnificent places to indulge in a little bit of people watching. Turn this passive time waster into a more productive activity by keeping tabs on what other travelers wear and bring to the airport. You never know who or what might inspire your next jet setting ensemble! And if you’re feeling up to it, chat with your neighbors. They may just be new connections in the making.
